Well I just wanted to update you guys on my son. You know that I took him for his screening that didn't go well. Well he is scheduled for his bigger screening in front of Dr.'s and stuff at the end of this month. But before the screening he had to retake his audio test because he didn't pass or fail it. So on Wednesday, I take him to the school district and have the audio test done. I mention to the lady that he is very sensitive about his ears. He's always been like that.
We go into this big sound proof room and she first starting talking to him and she noticed he was speech delayed right off the bat. So she takes out the thingy with the lite to check his ears and he opens his mouth. And he thinks he's at the Dr. So she told him that she had to look at his ears and when she went to his ears, he told her no and started to freak out. So after a couple of attempts, I hold him down and she checks his first ear. Then by that time he warmed up to her and let her check the second. So then we move his chair to the computer that is supposed to check the pressure of his ear. She puts this thingy in his ear, goes to her machine and presses a button. She turns around and looks at me and says "He had no pressure in his ears". I'm like ok, what does that mean. She said that he has fluid behind his ears. I'm like ok, so what does that mean. So she's explaining everything to me and then told me to take him to his pediatrician which they will put him on amoxacillian and probably put a tube in his ears to drain the fluid. Then she shows me pics and diagrams of what is happening to him.
So the following day, I didn't want to take him to his regular pediatrician. One of the girls at work referred me to her's and we went. She was very nice and very patient with my son. So in a nut shell she too noticed his speech delay and said maybe him having the fluid behind the ears is probably one of the reasons for that. So then she referred me to a ear specialist. In the mean time, she did put him on the amoxacillian, zyrtec, and nasal spray because of his allergies.
So I made the appointment for him tommorrow to take another audio test. And then just in case, they schedule an appointment on Thursday for his procedure.
My fam, I am soooooo nervous about this. I'm sure the Dr. is gonna find the fluid behind his ears because the audio tech and the pediatrician noticed it. I'm scared outta my wits at this procedure. Not scared at what their gonna do, but just scared that they have to put him under!!!! I know he has to get this done because if he doesn't, he could eventually go deaf. And I'm proud of myself for getting him checked to find this problem to help him better himself before it got any worse. The Dr. even made me feel good about what I was doing.
So I want you guys to keep me and my son in your prayers. I will keep you updated.
